Guaranteed and Renewable Ryerson Entrance Scholarships
First-year students at Ryerson have a good chance of getting this scholarship because Ryerson is happy to recognize the academic achievements of the first-year class when they are admitted to the university and has set aside more than $4 million for entrance scholarships.
If you are an international student with a study visa who goes to and finishes high school in Canada and gets an average of 80 percent or higher, you can get a job in Canada.
Once you meet the requirements for a scholarship, you will be given a renewable entrance scholarship based on the following values.

The amount of the scholarship will be split equally between the fall and winter semesters.

Ryerson University students can apply for the following scholarships:
1. President’s Entrance Scholarships
This scholarship is given to high school students who are eligible for The President’s Entrance Scholarship and have done well in school, shown leadership skills, had original ideas, and been creative.
Twelve (12) people are given the President’s Entrance Scholarship. Each eligible student gets a total of $40,000, which is given to them in annual amounts of $10,000. This award can be renewed.
Eligibility
To be considered for this award, you must have a final admission average of at least 90%. The best six Grade 12 U/M courses or the equivalent in the applicant’s home country are used to figure out the applicant’s average.

Requirements for President’s Entrance Scholarships
Applicants will be asked to include the following on the application:
- An essay or project summary: This could be a piece of creative writing or a summary of a creative project you worked on. It needs to show that you can think of something new and creatively (max 750 words).
- Two letters of recommendation:

- academic reference letter that shows you can do well in school. This may also have something to say about your efforts to lead and be creative.
- Your leadership and creative work should be mentioned in a letter of recommendation. It shouldn’t check how well you did in school.
- Your leadership activities: During your last two years of high school, you will list the leadership activities and positions you have held.
Note: You can apply for this scholarship if you are a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, a protected person in Canada, or an international student.
2. International Secondary School Merit Scholarship
The International Secondary School Merit Scholarship is for international students who are entering their first year of full-time study and who want to get a four-year undergraduate degree at Ryerson University. To be eligible, you must show academic excellence, a commitment to volunteer work and extracurricular activities, and leadership skills.
You can therefore apply for this award.
The International Secondary School Merit Scholarship is given to seven students. Each student gets $5,000 at the start of school, but they can’t get it again.
Eligibility
For this scholarship, you must have a final grade point average of at least 85 percent or the equivalent.
International Secondary School Merit Scholarship Requirements
Applicants will be asked to include:
- A Personal Statement
Note: You can apply for this award if you are a student from outside Canada. Applicants who took a break between high school and college are only eligible for this award if that break was less than one academic year.
Scholarships For International Students At Ryerson University
Below is the list of scholarships available for international students.
1. Ryerson International Student Scholarship
This scholarship is for students in programs that lead to a doctorate in engineering. It’s worth $7000 and can’t be used again.
Eligibility for Ryerson Scholarship for International Students
To get this scholarship, you have to:
- Be a current student in one of the doctoral engineering programs at the institution.
- Have a good record in school
2. BMO Financial Group Diversity Scholarships
This scholarship has a value of $1,000 or $2,500 each year
Eligibility
To qualify for this scholarship, applicant has to:
- Be a full-time undergraduate student
- Have a good grade point average
- Demonstrate financial need
3. Ryerson International Exchange Opportunity Scholarship
This scholarship value is $2000 (two thousand dollars)
Eligibility
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicant must:
- Be a full-time student at the institution
- have a good academic record
- Demonstrate financial need
4. Salad King International Student Awards/Scholarship
Mr. Ernest and Mrs. Linda Liu, who own the popular Salad King restaurant, came up with the idea for the Salad King International Student Awards.
You can get this award if you are an international student at Ryerson University and you have shown strong leadership to improve the quality of student life there. A student leader on campus makes a difference by being a good role model and a great teacher for other students.
The person who won this award did something special to help Ryerson University in an academic or support area.
The value of this scholarship is $1000. The scholarship is for students from outside the U.S. who have done well in school.
It is only given once a year, and only international students can take it. There are many categories for the Salad King International Students Scholarship. They include:

- Salad King Personal Development Award
- Salad King Excellence in Mentoring Award
To be considered for this scholarship, applicant must:
- Have a minimum CGPA of 2.0
- Be an undergraduate or graduate student at the institution
- have a valid study permit
- Be in your second to final year as an undergraduate student or a graduate student
5. Scotiabank International Student Scholarship
This scholarship was set up in 2001 with help from the Bank of Nova Scotia (Scotiabank) to help Ryerson and the greater Toronto area become more culturally and ethnically diverse.
Ryerson University wants to show support for international students and help them do well in school by helping them get the Scotiabank International Student Scholarship in International Student Support (ISS).
Based on the agreement with Scotiabank, this scholarship is for full-time international undergraduate students in their last year who have done well in school. Unfortunately, this scholarship is not open to international students in their first year.
This prize is given to international students 12 times a year and is worth between $1,500 and $1,800.
