Things to Note About the 2024/2025 Marketing Syllabus (Area of Concentration)

  1. The marketing syllable shows you all the areas of concentration or scheme of work which are approved by the National Examination Council (NECO) for students to read and prepare for the forth coming exam.
  2. NECO syllabus are real and all your questions must come from these topics which will be shown to you on this page.
  3. The NECO syllabus can be used to prepare for WAEC and GCE. This simply means that same books you read while writing WAEC, you can read them to prepare for NECO.

1. PREAMBLE

The Marketing syllabus at the Senior Secondary School level in Nigeria is designed to
assess the candidates’ basic knowledge of marketing. It includes an overview of
marketing, marketing concepts, marketing mix, consumer and organizational behaviour,
marketing management and entrepreneurship.

2. AIM AND OBJECTIVES

The aim of the examination is to test candidates’
(1). knowledge, skills, concepts needed to practice marketing as a career.
(2). ability to set up and manage a market outlet.
(3). understanding of the roles of marketing in the economy

3. SCHEME OF THE EXAMINATION

There will be two papers, Papers 1 and 2, both of which will constitute a composite paper to be
taken at one sitting.
PAPER 1: will consist of forty multiple-choice objective questions which will cover the
entire syllabus. Candidates are expected to answer all the questions in 50
minutes for 40 marks.
PAPER 2: will be a 2-hour paper consisting of six essay questions, out of which
candidates will be expected to answer any four for 80 marks.
