Loughborough University Scholarships – The University is committed to attracting the brightest and best students regardless of background and has a generous package of undergraduate scholarships and bursaries available.

In other words, the scholarship program is open to international undergraduate students and students within the United Kingdom.

Loughborough University Scholarships, financial support 2023-2024

1. Care Leaver Bursary

Cash bursary/tuition fee waivers for care leavers (total value depending on the year of entry). It is available to UK students only. £17,100 over three years.

2. Opportunity Scholarships

Cash bursaries are funded through donations from alumni and friends of the University for UK students from areas of low HE participation. Available to UK students only. £9,000 over three years.

3. Hardship Fund

Loughborough University also offers a Hardship Fund, providing a small number of awards to current students who are experiencing severe financial hardship. Available to both UK and International students.

4. International Scholarships

Self-funded international students are automatically considered for this scholarship. 25% off first-year tuition fees.

5. Loughborough University Bursary

Cash bursaries and tuition fee waivers depend upon household income. Additional support is available for foundation year or extended undergraduate Master’s degree students. Available to UK students only. Worth up to £3,600 over three years, plus additional for foundation or extended undergraduate master’s degree students.

6. Music Tuition and Scholarships

Subsidized music lessons and scholarships for exceptional musicians. Available to both UK and International. Worth £200 for 8 hours of music tuition. The scholarships award up to £500 to each student.

7. Performance Programme Bursary

Cash bursaries for athletes representing Loughborough University in the British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) competition as part of our performance programmes. Available to UK students alone. £1,000 paid in three equal instalments across the year (reviewed annually).

8. Mature Athlete Bursary

Cash bursaries for mature athletes representing Loughborough University in the British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) competition. For UK students alone. £1,000 paid in three equal instalments across the year (reviewed annually).

9. Athlete with a Disability Bursary

Cash bursaries for athletes with a disability representing Loughborough University in the British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) competition. Worth £1,000 paid in three equal instalments across the year (reviewed annually)

10. Sports Scholarships

Supporting talented student-athletes (competing to at least junior international level) with sporting and academic development. For both UK and International students. Worth up to £5,000 per year, depending on sport and performance level.

NOTE: Not available to students from Wales, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.

To give you an idea of what’s on offer, the table below outlines the support for new undergraduates starting at Loughborough in 2024-25.
To reward outstanding academic achievement, we are pleased to be able to offer our Loughborough University International Scholarships to eligible applicants holding an undergraduate offer of a place with the University.
You do not need to make a separate application to the University in order to be considered for the Loughborough University Bursary. However, you will need to have made an application to the relevant student finance award agency.
There are many funding options available for international students who want to study in the UK. They range from part-funding, for example paying part of your fees, to full-funding which covers programme fees, living expenses, and return flights to the UK.
Fee Assessment. They will let you know whether you are eligible to claim any funding. If you meet the funding requirements there will be no fee for the course.

How many international students go to Loughborough?

Loughborough has a long history of welcoming international students to the University. We currently have around 2,300 students studying here from outside the UK.

How do I pay Loughborough fees?

Payment can be made by cash, cheque, credit or debit card, bank transfer, direct debit and banker’s draft (the banker’s draft must be payable in sterling and drawn on a UK bank account). At Loughborough, tuition and accommodation fees can be paid in three instalments over the academic year in October, January and May.

Difference between Loughborough College and Loughborough University

It was renamed Loughborough University in 1996. Other developments have included the reunification in 1977 with Loughborough College of Education and with Loughborough College of Art and Design in 1998.

Loughborough University in the United Kingdom requires students to maintain a minimum GPA of 3.2 in order to stand a good chance to get admission into Loughborough University.
