Cleveland State University is a government owned research institution in Cleveland, Ohio in United States of America. It was founded in 1964 and resumed classes in 1965 after buying off Fenn College, a private school that has been operating since 1923.
Recently the office of Research of the Cleveland State University has announced that it will offer funds to support undergraduate student research and Scholarship for 2023 and 2024.
The objective of this program is to enable undergraduate access funds in order to offset the cost associated with carrying out Research in Cleveland State University’s credit bearing course during the fall 2023 or spring 2024 semesters.
The university has up to $20,000 total funds reserved for this program and it is believed that up to 20 students will be funded.

Terms of the research award
These are the terms and conditions guiding this scholarship award.
It is expected that the awarded funds be expended before the last day of the Fall 2023 semester or the last day of the spring 2024 semester, this condition totally depends on the period covered by the scholarship.
The recipients have to get approval from the institutional Review Board or the institution Animal care and use committee before embarking on a project that deals with the study of Humans or animals.
Enquiries pertaining to this term should be addressed to the sponsored programs and Research Service (SPRS).
 The office of Research has no direction or Supervision over the activities to be performed by the awardee, however it does require the recipients to adhere to the initial objective and purpose of the proposal.
Any Reports, Journal articles that were financed by the undergraduate Research Award must carry a proper acknowledgement that the research was done with the support of the Cleveland State University undergraduate Research Award program.
The awardee should know that any equipment or material purchased under the undergraduate Research Award is legally the property of the university and this property is assigned to the department that the recipients received his or her award in.
All the awards are carried out through the office of Research, the awarded funds must be used solely for the purpose described in the proposal and in adherence to the university regulations and procedure. Any fund that was not spent through the period covered by the award will be taken back by the office of the Research for redistribution,Funds extension won’t be granted.
The students will submit the results of his or her Research and also account for expenditure at the end of the period that the support was provided. It will be submitted to Joy Yard ([email protected]) and Roman Kondratov ([email protected]).
Guidelines for Cleveland State University Research Award
Students can get up to $1,000 research support. The funds can be used for research that will last for a single semester or can be spread out over the full Academic year.
Students who are eligible to receive funds through this program are advised and encouraged to work with a staff member of their faculty to apply for an undergraduate Summer Research award. A project must be independent work of the student even if it is related to an ongoing faculty wide project. Research, Scholarship and creative activities are encouraged by the program.
Students who are on another Scholarship program are also eligible to apply for this award if they can clearly show that the scholarship is not supporting their Research.
Eligibility of Cleveland State University Research Award
For a student to be eligible for this award , the proposed Research should be performed as part of the requirements for an undergraduate Cleveland State University course for which the student gets credit.
Prospective Recipients must be a student of CSU with at least Junior standing.
They should have a cumulative GPA of not less than 3.25 or higher.Â
Applicants must submit a completed application and get approval before spending the funds being applied for.

How to Prepare Your Application
The award Application proposal should be written using an understandable language, the language must be understood by non-specialist faculty colleagues. The proposal should focus on the learning experience of the undergraduate.
Applications must be prepared using a 10-point or larger font on 8 ½” x 11″ paper with 1″ margins. Handwritten materials will not be accepted.
All proposals should be not more than two pages, it should include a description of the intended Research work, how the fund being requested will be used and a justification for the budget.
Deadline for the submission of application is two , one for Fall and one for Spring. The submission deadline for Fall is usually the last Monday of April and that of the spring funding is usually the last Monday of November.
All the application must be submitted as a single PDF formatted attachment to Joy Yard ([email protected]) and Roman Kondratov ([email protected]) by 5pm on the date of the deadline.Â
The award committee will evaluate each proposal and nominate the students eligible to receive the awards within 5 weeks after the deadline.

What Cleveland State University undergraduate research award coversÂ
The award covers expenses such as;Â
Supplies and materials or travel for the project.
Computer software and equipment can as well be funded only if it is very essential to the success of the project and can not be obtained by any other means at CSU.
The computer software purchased through the undergraduate research award, remains the property of CSU after the project has been completed.
