The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (which runs the NNPC/SPDC/TEPNG/AGIP Joint Venture) is asking eligible Nigerians to apply for the NNPC/SPDC Scholarship Program 2023. Here, you can find out more about the Shell Undergraduate Scholarships.

As part of its Education Social Investment program, which aims to help young Nigerians do better in school and improve their skills, SPDC is now accepting applications for its University Scholarship Scheme from Full-Time Nigerian Students who will be enrolled in the 2023–2024 academic session.

Eligibility Requirements for Shell Undergraduate Scholarship

The merit-based scholarship is in two categories – (i) the National Merit Award (NM) (ii) the Areas of Operation Merit Award.

  • National Merit Award (NM) – Open to all Nigerians
  • Areas of Operation Merit Award – Open to Nigerians who are indigenes of SPDC’s operational areas in Abia, Bayelsa, Delta, Imo and Rivers States

Eligible Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Be citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
  2. Be registered FULL TIME undergraduates in an accredited and approved University in Nigeria
  3. Applicant must be in 200 Level
  4. Must have sat for WAEC, NECO, GCE and must have gotten 5 credit pass
  5. The minimum CGPA for the scholarship is 2.5

How to Apply for Shell Undergraduate Scholarship

  1. Before you start your application, all applicants should have personal valid email account (for consistent communication)
  2. All applications must be completed online. Visit the Shell Scholarship Portal to apply
  3. For those applying for Operational Area Awards, you are required to provide scanned copies of letters of identification, (which must be duly stamped and signed) by:
    • The Paramount Ruler of the Community; and
    • The Chairman of the Community Development or Executive Council (CDC or CEC)
  4.  Each document to be uploaded must not exceed 200KB and the image format must be in JPEG

NOTE: The letters must be addressed to The Manager, Social Performance, Shell Petroleum Development Company, Port Harcourt.

Important Information:

  • Shell does not ask applicants for money. The application is free of charge.
  • Shell does not give applicants “representatives” or “agents” to help them with the application process.
  • Only those who have been chosen to take a test will be contacted.
  • Only the Shell Nigeria website is a place to apply.
